$10,000 AWARDED IN GRANTS BY THE ROGER & LYN DERUSHA AAOD FAMILY FUND

A total of $10,000 in grants has been awarded to 6 non-profit and charitable groups in Marinette and Menominee counties from the Roger & Lyn Derusha AAOD (alcohol and other drugs) Family Fund of the M&M Area Community Foundation.  Projects receiving funds were in the area of alcohol and other drug abuse and prevention.

Organizations receiving awards are:

· DAR Boys & Girls Club - $1,500 to support the Smart Moves Program

· Healthy Youth Coalition of Marinette and Menominee Counties - $1,500 to fund the Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drug Media Prevention Campaign

· Libertas Treatment Center - $4,000 to help fund the School Drug Use Recognition, Documentation, and Testing Training Program

· Respite Care of Marinette & Menominee Counties - $1,000 to fund the Community Outreach Project

· Sam English - $1,500 to support Sam English Art Workshops

· The Village Cooperative Preschool - $500 to help fund the Learning to Make Wise Choices in Our Lives Program

Roger and Lyn Derusha established the Fund in 2001 to help prevent the use and abuse of alcohol and other drugs.  Roger was one of the Founding Directors of the Foundation, which awards the Roger H. Derusha “Endurance” Service award to an outstanding Foundation volunteer in his honor.  The Derusha family awarded $10,900 in grants last year.  Roger & Lyn’s five children, Lori, Mary, Debra, Dean and Michael have continued the family’s tradition by playing an integral part in the selection process.
