M&M Area Community Foundation 2009 Tailgate Party

The M&M Area Community Foundation held its 11th annual Tailgate Party Fundraiser on Friday, October 16th at Schusslers Supper Club in Peshtigo.  This year’s party was a huge success with over 400 individuals in attendance and raised $53,000 to help support the Foundation.  This year’s celebrity guest, former Green Bay Packer William Henderson, was a huge hit with partygoers and signed autographs after dinner.  He also shared a little about himself after being introduced.  The evening was filled with various raffles, a silent and live auction, buffet dinner, trivia contest and entertainment.  William Caley was recognized as being the oldest football player at the event who played for Menominee in the early 1950’s.

The Tailgate Party is the main fundraiser to help support the good work of the Foundation.  Established in 1994, the Foundation began awarding grants and scholarships in 1997 when it awarded $7,290.  In 2008 alone, over $200,000 was awarded.  Since 1997 the Foundation has awarded over $1,500,000 to non-profit organizations within Marinette and Menominee Counties.

The Foundation would like to thank all the sponsors and volunteers who helped make this year’s event the most successful ever especially Mark Nygren and Sharon Danielson co-chairs of the Community Events Committee of the Foundation.
