Field of Interest Funds
Field of interest funds allow donors
who wish to rely on the expertise of the M & M Area Community Foundation
to determine
the most effective use of their funds in a particular area of interest.
You can create a new field of interest fund or support on which already
exists. The M & M Area Community Foundation currently manages funds
dedicated to the following fields of interest: Youth Fund, Community
Health, Healthy Youth/Seniors, Michigan Tobacco Settlement funds,
Homelessness, and Prevention of Alcohol and Drug Abuse.
The following is a list of established Field of Interest
Funds:
Health Field of Interest - Established for the purpose
of maintaining, improving and enhancing health care for residents
of the counties of Marinette, WI and Menominee, MI.
Healthy Youth/Seniors Fund - Income generated from
MI's settlement with tobacco companies; distribution based on Menominee
County, MI's population of youth 18 and under and seniors 65 and
over. One-half of funds received are distributed as grants to these
age groups for community health, wellness and educational purposes.
Balance of funding is endowed and earnings provided for future grants.
Homeless Prevention Services Fund - Established for
the benefit of aiding and providing assistance for safe and affordable
housing in our service area.
Youth Field of Interest - Foundation's
Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) makes grants from this fund. People
between ages 14 and 21 and residents of the counties of Marinette,
WI and Menominee, MI make up the committee. Matching funds from W.K.
Kellogg Foundation helped build this endowed fund.
