January 2017 - The M&M Area Community Foundation (MMACF) is proud to announce the establishment of the 1967 Menominee Basketball State Championship Scholarship Fund into its family of endowments.
The scholarship fund was started by Bill Jones III and Bob Johnson, two members of the championship team, on behalf of the cheerleaders, coaches, staff, and team as a legacy to the M&M Community.
In March 1967 the Menominee boys’ basketball team won the Michigan State Championship under the direction of Coach Bob Krysiak and All-State player Pat Miller, the MHS career scoring leader. The team will celebrate a 50-year reunion on the weekend of February 3rd – 4th. On February 3rd Menominee hosts Marquette at 6:20 p.m., preceded by the JV game at 4:45 p.m. Between games MHS will honor the 1967 varsity team family. Brochures will be available informing fans how they may contribute to the scholarship fund held by the MMACF. Contributions may also be mailed to the Foundation at 1110 10th Avenue, Suite L-1, Menominee.
From 6-9 p.m. on February 4th the Menominee Hoops Club will host a banquet at the Pullman House honoring the championship team. The Hoops Club invites the public to attend. The event will feature Bob Krysiak and Pat Miller as guest speakers. A BBQ-style dinner, beer, and soda will be served.
