September 2016 - Former Packer Bill Schroeder was the special guest speaker at the M&M Area Community Foundation (MMACF) Tailgate Fundraiser. Over 325 people were welcomed into the Pullman House in support of the MMACF’s mission of inspiring people to provide lasting legacies that enrich our communities.
“It’s always a highlight for our guests to connect with a Packer player,” said Lisa Fernstrum, MMACF Board President. “He shared funny and heartwarming stories from behind the scenes of his days as a professional football player. Our guests learned more about Schroeder and how he came into the league and what he’s been working on since his retirement.”
One of the key themes of the night was the focus on partnerships. The Foundation is proud of their work to strengthen partnerships with organizations throughout the twin counties. This alignment helps the Foundation successfully accomplish the goals of their fund holders while making our communities better places in which to live. “Our fund holders’ needs come in all shapes and sizes,” said Paula Gruszynski, MMACF Executive Director. “We pride ourselves on the partnerships we’ve built, coupled with our years of experience, to design a plan that helps each one of them accomplish their philanthropic goals.”
Among the evening’s entertainment were several attention grabbing raffle drawings, a silent auction, and a live auction featuring prizes donated by community members and businesses. “None of this would have been possible without months of hard work from our team of volunteers, led by Community Events Committee Chair, Barb Van de Hei,” noted Gruszynski. “Together, they created a well-organized, lively event for our guests.”
The M&M Area Community Foundation looks forward to continuing to highlight their partnerships across Marinette and Menominee counties during Community Foundation Week, November 12th – 18th.
