June 2015 – The M&M Area Community Foundation hosted its annual Celebration of Giving on Thursday June 4th at Little River Country Club. The awards presentation and scholarship recognition event included grants and scholarships totaling over $165,000 to youth and area organizations.

The Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) of the foundation, which is comprised of area high school students, directed over 21 thousand dollars to organizations serving young people in the Marinette and Menominee county area. YAC members make all the grant determinations and attended the event to personally present the awards they select and administer. Grants were awarded in the following categories: YAC, Community-Wide, Peshtigo Area, Alcohol and Other Drugs, and Health. The night’s award recipients included Rainbow House, DAR Boys and Girls Club, Camp New Day, Bay Area Regional Tennis Association, Master Gardeners Association, Crivitz Area Woman’s Club, Healthy Youth Coalition, M&M Great Lakes Fisherman Kid’s Derby, Abundant Life Church, Marinette Middle School, River Cities Pool, Pembine Area Christians Youth Center, Greater Marinette – Menominee YMCA, UW Marinette Children’s Theatre, Stephenson Public Library, Suicide Prevention Network, Pestigo Parks and Recreation, Marinette County Association for Home and Community Education, St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry, Community Action Agency, Marinette County Committee on Aging Inc., Crivitz Elementary School, River Cities Habitat for Humanity, Zion Lutheran Church, Handicapped United Inc., Discipleship, Menominee Police Department, Marinette County Health and Human Services Department and Pinecrest Medical Facility.

The time and effort these students dedicate to giving back to their community is commendable and bodes well for our future.”The M&M Area Community Foundation encourages broad community participation in its mission and welcomes new donors and volunteers.
