Women’s Giving Circle to Hold Annual Event on September 29th
The Women’s Giving Circle of Marinette and Menominee counties, a committee of the M&M Area Community Foundation, will award $5,800 in grants next month.
WGC will hold its annual gathering and awards ceremony on Thursday, September 29th from 5 to 7pm, in the social hall of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 917 Church Street, Marinette.
Grant awards will be made at 5:30 p.m., following a 5 p.m. social hour featuring appetizers.
The event is open to area women with an interest in philanthropy and connecting with like-minded women. There is no admission charge but donations will be accepted to help defray administrative costs.
During the event, the Women’s Giving Circle will also announce its Queen Marinette Award, which honors a local woman who gives back to her community and serves as an example for both girls and women. In 2014, the first award was given to Michell Hampton of the Greater M&M YMCA. Last year, Sarah Hanson of the Healthy Youth Coalition was honored.
This year, the WGC will partner with Project Give to collect diaper bags and diaper bag items for new mothers. New diapers, cloth or disposable, baby bottles, sippy cups, baby wipes, baby powder, diaper cream and hand wipes will be accepted. Shelby Beck of Project Give will be one of the event’s presenters.
The Women’s Giving Circle began in 2008 when an anonymous female donor made a gift to the foundation to support women’s philanthropy. The WGC mission is to support local projects that are important to women and girls throughout Marinette and Menominee counties.
The WGC Grant Committee makes awards on an annual basis. The next grant cycle will begin in mid-2017.
